Becoming involved in this event...
How did you get involved in the Bottlemart 2009 Smiling for Smiddy Challenge?
Roger Hawley, the Diesel
Please list your reasons why you will undertake this 1600 kilometre challenge?
Personal Challenge / Meeting different people / Roger's experience of the ride the last two years
Your expectations of this event...
What do you expect the ride to be like, and what will you do to get through it?
Tough, but I will think about people like Adam Smiddy and many others who suffer from cancer and dig deep to get me through this challenge.
This ride has no rest days - do you think you will physically or mentally "crack"? What will you do if you do crack, or how will you make sure you don't?
Yes, drink plenty of fluid, eat the right foods and I have started my long rides already (I just did 450k over three days for our own charity ride)
What is your advice for other riders accompanying you on your journey?
To realise that us girl's may not be as strong as the guys........ and help us out if we need it
How will you deal with spending 24 hours a day with 50 riders and 10 support crew for eight days in a row?
No problems
What you bring to this event...
What are your 'good' attributes and how will they help you complete the Bottlemart 2009 Smiling for Smiddy Challenge?
Dedicated / enjoy riding / like a challenge and will not give up
Do you have any bad traits that you wish to share with your team mates prior to the ride starting?
Yes, I use a hanky to blow my nose (Roger hates this), thinks I should learn to snort
Are you a team person? How do you see yourself fitting in with the group, especially when the realisation hits home that the ride is no picnic in the park?
Yes. Very easy going, so should not be a problem
How much are you hoping to raise?
$15,000, I have to beat Roger's funds from last year
Do you think you can become the highest fund raiser for the ride?
No, as some riders have big $$ from Corporate Sponsors
What your preparation consists of...
Will you do anything different, besides riding, to help you prepare for the ride
Running and walking
What is the longest distance you have covered in the past over one week, and how did you handle it physically and mentally?
520k, just a bit tired but handled it okay
Your supporters...
What would you like to pass on to your personal supporters?
A BIG THANK YOU for helping me achieve my fundraising target, also to my fellow cyclists who ride with me on long rides
